Jason Booms, Director, Strategic Research and Communications for The Hannon Group, LLC, provides insights-driven counsel to inform and enhance business and communications strategies. With over 20 years of experience leading primary research and media intelligence initiatives, Jason has helped formulate and evaluate compelling public affairs, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership campaigns.
Jason has delivered strategic insights to many corporations, associations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies. His work spans multiple sectors, with a particular focus on health care/biopharmaceutical, energy/utility, and transportation industry challenges. Notable engagements include communications research programs conducted for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), and the National Health Council (NHC).
Jason helmed his own communications research consultancy for over a decade, working with clients such as the National Institutes of Health, the Mastercard Foundation, and the American Red Cross. He also served as the Managing Director, North America for CARMA, a global media intelligence firm, where he oversaw media analysis efforts on behalf of clients such as Mayo Clinic and Accenture. Jason was also a senior leader with GfK’s Public Affairs and Corporate Communications division where he led primary research programs for clients including DuPont, Freddie Mac, and CSL Behring. Earlier in his career, Jason helped establish and grow a new communications research practice at Edelman, one of the world’s largest PR agencies. While there, Jason led a number of high-profile communications research efforts for such clients as Nissan, GE, and the Motion Picture Association of America. In the 1990s, Jason was a political pollster.
Jason earned a Master of Arts in communication from Southern New Hampshire University. He has a Bachelor of Arts in political theory from Michigan State University.
